Two Sister’s tea garden covers 5 hectares and is the life passion of sisters, Inga and Lana, who are after 20 years are regenerating their father’s tea gardens. The sheer physical toil that has gone into producing this tea is truly staggering. All the tea is hand plucked by a group of 10 ladies from the surrounding villages, including Inga and Lana. No herbicides or pesticides are used and weeds are carefully removed only if they don’t serve a purpose such as shading the tender little bushes in the hot Georgian summers. The tea is plucked in early May and then transported to a local village where another small tea grower has facilities for making tea. The sisters are soon to open their own little tea factory on their premises. The tea gardens have been manually cleared by the ladies over the past few years and the end result of their labour is this highly enjoyable and addictive tea. I had the absolute pleasure of visiting this garden in the Spring of 2023 where we spent a fabulous day visiting the gardens and tucking into a delicious Georgian supra prepared just for us by Inga and Lana.
The exquisitely twisted and coiled mink- green leaves have an inviting nutty smell. The liquor is a delicate pale lime colour with a velvety smooth nutty aroma overlaid with soft herb notes. The mouthfeel is clean and bright with suggestions of roasted vegetables and the same gentle herb notes as on the nose. An alluring and deceptively easy drinking green tea which will soon become a firm favourite. Grown in an entirely herbicide and pesticide free environment. Ecologically clean. Hand plucked and hand made.
