Red Berry Blast is an infusion - a blend created from a mixture of different botanical ingredients. There is often confusion about the definition of what constitutes "tea", and to which beverages the name can be applied. Traditionally, tea is made from one plant only - camellia sinensis - from which thousands of different teas are made across the world, all determined by the variety of the tea plant, where and how it was grown, and the method used to make it. In comparison, infusion is a beverage which can be made from bark, root, leaves, flowers, fruits - in fact, anything that can be safely infused and drunk.
The hibicus adds a refreshing cranberry-like flavour, whilst rosehip is clean and floral to taste. Both of these ingredients are known for their containing vitamin C and anti-oxidant properties, whilst hibicus adds a deep ruby colour to the infusion. The apple chunks compliment the raspberry pieces and orange peel, to make a drink that is equally delicious hot or cold. For a summer treat, add 50ml of apple juice to 200 ml of cold brewed Red Berry Blast, and garnish with fresh raspberries and orange slices. Or for a party drink, place frozen berries in a glass and top up with one third cold brew of Red Berry Blast to two thirds sparkling wine or prosecco. To enjoy cold: 4g per 200ml of cold water overnight in the fridge. Sieve and enjoy over ice.
This infusion features a vibrant mix of crimson hibiscus and deep pink rosehips, interspersed with raspberry pieces, orange peel, and chunks of apple. On infusion, the mix brews into a lovely ruby red, with a refreshing, sharp berry, fruity aroma. The flavour is of red berries, with a clean, crisp note. This tea is delicious when taken hot in winter to ward off colds and boost the immune system, or served chilled over ice for summer sipping.
Fruity desserts, duck or game, ice cream.
