Kenilworth Estate is situated in the Central Province of Sri Lanka at an elevation of approximately 2,100 feet above sea level. There are three growing altitudes for tea in Sri Lanka and this is deemed as a medium one. Kenilworth sits in the Kandy agro- climatic district between 2 rivers, the Kelani Ganga and the Mahaweli Ganga. Our Kenilworth is an OP1 (orange pekoe grade 1), meaning it is a whole well twisted leaf. It is made by the orthodox method of manufacture during the South Western quality season resulting in a tea of excellent quality.

The estate takes great pride in offering vocational training for differently abled people, pre and post-natal clinics, scholarships, health facilities, child care and a creche.

The estate is named after Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire and gives an indication of its origins being established in 1880 by a British planter. The estate has a Fairtrade Certificate and is a member of the Rain Forest Alliance.

The dry, whole well- twisted leaf is a deep charcoal colour with a warmed wood aroma. On brewing the liquor takes on a bright coppery colour with a dried fruit aroma and suggestions of burnt sugar. The taste follows through with warm and honeyed malty notes, a full-bodied mouthfeel and a long lasting aftertaste which exhibits a dryness of mouth indicating an exceptional Sri Lankan tea made in the South Western quality season. Balances milk well.

An all day tea which would be equally good drunk on its own or with food.

2.5g  to 200ml of water at 100c. Brew for 3 - 5 minutes.
